20 Fenchurch Street in the historic City of London financial district was designed in 2004 by Rafael Viñoly the world-renowned Uruguayan architect based in New York. The arguably ugly structure has been nicknamed by Londoners 'The Walkie-Talkie' because of its distinctive shape. A nightmare for window cleaners.

Afghan Photographers Kabul Afghanistan.
The Kamra-e-faoree is a handmade wooden camera. it is both a camera and a darkroom in one. Afghanistan remains one of the last places on earth where photographers continue to use this simple type of instant camera for means of making a living. Generations of Afghans have had their portraits taken with it, usually for identity photographs. It was outlawed when the Taliban as former rulers of Afghanistan banned photography, forcing photographers to hide or destroy their equipment. Nestled in northern Mexico and the canyons of the Sierra Madre Occidental is a small tribe of indigenous people known as the Tarahumara. They call themselves Rarámuri, loosely translated as "running people," "foot-runner," "swift of foot," or "he who walks well." They are known for evading the Spanish conquerors in the sixteenth century and keeping their cave-dwelling culture alive and secluded. They are also known for their long distance running and their superior health, not displaying the common health issues of "modern" societies. A recent National Geographic study (Nov. 2008) states: "When it comes to the top 10 health risks facing American men, the Tarahumara are practically immortal: Their incidence rate is at or near zero in just about every category, including diabetes, vascular disease, and colorectal cancer...Plus, their supernatural invulnerability isn't just limited to their bodies; the Tarahumara have mastered the secret of happiness as well, living as benignly as bodhisattvas in a world free of theft, murder, suicide, and cruelty."

It was my pleasure to spend time with a true iconic hero, Ahmad Shah Massoud - Nickname " The Lion of The Panjshir" Ahmad Shah Massoud was an Afghan political and military leader, who was a central figure in the resistance against the Soviet occupation between 1979 and 1989 and in the following years of civil war. He was assassinated on September 9, 2001. Massoud came from an ethnic Tajik, Sunni Muslim background from the Panjshir valley in northern Afghanistan. He studied engineering at Kabul University in the 1970s, where he became involved with Muslim anti-communist movements around Burhanuddin Rabbani. After the Soviet occupation of 1979, his role as an insurgence leader earned him the nickname of "Lion of Panjshir" (شیر پنجشیر). In 1992, he was appointed as the minister of defense through the Peshawar Accord, a peace and power-sharing agreement, in the post-communist Islamic State of Afghanistan—a position he held until 2001. He fought against an alliance of militias led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and eventually the Taliban, who started to lay siege to the capital in January 1995. Following the rise of the Taliban in 1996, Massoud, who rejected the Taliban's fundamentalist interpretation of Islam, returned to the armed opposition. He served as the military and political leader of the United Islamic Front (also known in the West as Northern Alliance). He was assassinated, probably at the instigation of al-Qaeda, in a suicide bombing on September 9, 2001, just two days before the September 11 attacks in the United States, which led to the U.S. and NATO to intervene in Afghanistan, allying with Massoud's forces. Massoud was posthumously named "National Hero" by the order of Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The date of his death, September 9, is observed as a national holiday known as "Massoud Day" in Afghanistan. His followers call him Āmir Sāhib-e Shahīd (امیر صاحب شهید, "Our Beloved Martyred Commander").
